Junior Golf Program
Since 1984 Dr. Modic has been actively involved in the Junior Golf Program at Wicomico Shore Golf Course in St. Mary’s County, Maryland. The Junior Golf Program provides instruction to children and teens ages 7-17 every summer to instruct youth on the basics of golf. The program seeks to actively increase participation and interest in golf while giving youth opportunities to develop their skills. Annually, several instructors teach the program with about 60-100 kids in the basics of golf techniques and at the end of the program the children have an opportunity to participate in a miniature golf tournament. After the tournament each year there is a cook-out for participants and their family members. There is nominal fee to join the Junior Golf Program however; there are scholarship opportunities available through the Recreational Parks Program. Information is sent out annually through the Recreational Parks Program to all St. Mary’s County, Maryland Public Schools in the spring. The Greenwell Foundation
The Greenwell Foundation is a local nonprofit organization in St. Mary’s County, Maryland that provides therapeutic horseback riding programs to children with disabilities. Over the past three years Dr. Modic and his team have chosen this local foundation as part of the charitable giving to sponsor children with disabilities the opportunity to become involved in therapeutic horseback riding. The program gives children with disabilities the opportunity to enhance their socialization and motor skills while participating in an activity that they may not have had the chance to experience on their own. In the past three years Dr. Modic has helped raise over $24,000.00 and we are looking forward to providing the Greenwell Foundation with another charitable donation in the future. The Smiles for Life Foundation
The Smiles for Life Foundation is a children’s charity foundation comprised of leading-edge dentist across the country that raises money every year to help children facing serious health and educational deficiencies. From March through June each year, Smiles for Life dentists offer teeth whitening services at a discounted rate and all proceeds go to the charity. The Smiles for Life Foundation is affiliated with the Garth Brooks Teammates for kids which raise money for both national and local organizations across the country. From all of the proceeds raised each year 50% go to the Smiles for Life Foundation for national charities and the other 50% go to a local charity chosen by Dr. Modic and his team. Dr. Modic and his team have been actively involved in the Smiles for Life program since 1998 and have helped raise with other dentist in the foundation over 25 million dollars.
